I don’t usually make reference to the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram, in part because of their web site design. But if you’re among the Browns fans outraged at the new franchise’s lack of progress, you may appreciate the vitriol Doug Clarke launched at Carmen Policy in this article: “Mr. Impeccable has made mess of our Browns.” Key excerpt:

…the New Browns have made a mess of this business of running a football team. Not a little mess, either, but a big, fat one in the middle of the floor that we keep stepping in.

It began with Mr. Impeccable brushing off Bernie Kosar like he was lice on a dark Armani suit, then hiring Big Catch Clark and propping him up on a man’s swivel chair in the front office where he could do some damage, the hiring of a watery-eyed man to be the first coach, and then drafting a soft Kentucky quarterback with the No. 1 pick.

There have been other whoppers of malpractice (drafting Courtney Brown instead of LaVar Arrington leaps to mind) — the last of which could even turn out to be hiring a coach of college boys to do the man’s job of coaching, well … men.

Gosh, Doug, I hope everything’s all right at home.
