RANDOM MATTERS:
— The Browns’ longest rush was for seven yards. Jamel White had no carries. The team still is the only one in the NFL without either a rushing touchdown or a run of 20 or more yards.
–Bengals QB John Kitna, untouched all day, had a QB rating of 125.1, his highest since Week 9 last year, when he lit up the expansion Houston Texans.
–Bengals safety Jeff Burris, who sealed the win with his last-minute interception, played a great game, considering he could have died after falling asleep at the wheel on I-74 on Saturday. But he deserves a fine from the league for his equally reckless helmet-to-helmet hit on William Green early in the game.
–Gerard “Big Money” Warren had two tackles (one solo, one assist), bringing him up to six on the year (no sacks, stuffs, or forced fumbles). On the solo, it looked like he hit Rudi Johnson in the backfield but then let up, and Johnson sprawled ahead for a two-yard gain. Warren’s salary cap number is $2.7 million this year (that’s $168,750 per game), and it goes up much higher next year, if the Browns keep him.
–The Browns have now fumbled nine times. Only three teams have more. Fortunately they’ve only lost two of those. Yeah, I know, the bright side is pretty hard to find.
