Packers’ pick-over?: You may have heard that Green Bay has expressed interest in Tim Couch. Don’t get your hopes up of salvaging any short-term value from the remains of this misadventure. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Packers are unlikely to trade for Couch before the draft. If they don’t pick a QB from the college ranks, the Pack might, just might, offer a low-round pick in 2005 to the Browns for the player Cleveland selected first overall in 1999 and invested mega-millions into developing, in vain, into a franchise player.
And of course, all that depends on Couch coming to terms on a new contract and with the fact that he probably wouldn’t start until the retirement of durable veteran Brett Favre.
