Odd facts:
—ROLE REVERSAL: Through the first five games, Jamel White has as many special teams tackles as yards rushing (four).
–FLAG FOOTBALL: The last time the Browns played the Raiders (September 24, 2000), the teams combined for 24 penalties. Cleveland was flagged 15 times for 115 yards. Not surprisingly, the Browns lost 36-10.
–SINGLE DIGITS: It’s been 53 games since the Browns allowed a receiver ten or more catches. That’s the longest such streak in the league.
–TODD COUPLE: On September 20, 1992, the Browns beat the LA Raiders 28-16. Todd Philcox threw for three Cleveland TDs, while the Raiders’ Todd Marinovich passed for 395 yards in the losing effort.
–TRUTH IN THE BOOTH: Though his luck has been slipping of late, Butch Davis has won 61.1 percent of his replay challenges (11 of 18), the highest rate among active coaches with at least ten challenges.
–BRAINY ‘CANE: Browns tackle Joaquin Gonzalez had a 4.0 GPA in high school. He turned down academic scholarships from seven Ivy League universities to stay home and play for Butch Davis’ Miami Hurricanes as a walk-on.
–HAPPY HANDS: Kevin Johnson caught 274 passes in his first four seasons. That’s more than any of the league’s top ten all-time reception leaders (two of whom are in Cleveland today) caught during the same period of their careers.
