There’s really no sense in analyzing the keys to tomorrow’s game. Very little in this Browns season has held to form and failed to defy all logic. For so many reasons, this game will carry all sorts of intrigue:
–Can the Browns avenge their two narrow losses to the Steelers earlier this year, when in each game they grabbed a lead but became so conservative they failed to conserve the win?
–William Green has found himself since the last Steelers game on Nov. 3. Will he be able to show the Pittsburgh’s top-ranked rush defense his brutal stiff-arm and the back of his jersey?
–Can Orpheus Roye and Earl Holmes muster another big game against their old team and help prevent the Browns from getting run over by The Bus and others?
–Which newbie QB will break through, and which will break down? Holcomb and Maddox have both embodied brilliance and bone-headedness this season. In this game, one will pick apart the defense, and the other will get picked off repeatedly.
–Can the Browns’ coaches make mid-game adjustments? The Steelers are known to confuse teams with various blitzes and offensive trickery. Cleveland must assert itself from the outset and be nimble enough to adjust to circumstances. Both teams have a full complement of tools. It’s just a matter of using the best ones for the job at hand. The Browns’ best tool this year has been the gut-wrench.
