You never know what kind of game you’ll get from the Browns, and this week is particularly tough to predict. They’re playing the 7-3 Saints on the turf of the Superdome. Though the Browns are six-point underdawgs, here are a few reasons this game is a tossup:
— Both teams have a starting quarterback drafted in 1999 who wears #2.
— Both teams feature fleet wideouts, including a productive rookie (Andre Davis & Donte Stallworth, six TDs each).
— Both teams have struggled defending the run lately.
— The best running back on each team (Jamel White & Deuce McAllister) is injured and listed as questionable.
— Both teams have kick returners with proven game-breaking ability.
And speaking of toss-ups, William Green is again the big wildcard. This is the Browns’ only game on artificial turf this year, but last year at Boston College, Green averaged 6.67 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns in six games on turf. He also ran for 182 yards and two scores against Syracuse at the Carrier Dome.
No way I’ll venture to predict the final score. After all the Browns have been through this year, nothing would surprise me, but I’m sure something new will find a way to amaze.
