Browns round-up

A few must-reads from the past week:

Anderson seizing his opportunity (Jeffri Chadiha, ESPN) — Once erratic and unsure of his position, he’s now the “biggest surprise in the first half of this season.”

Chudzinski has a calling for offense (Tony Grossi, The Plain Dealer) — Q&A with the Browns’ hot young offensive coordinator (and my former high school classmate, in case you’re new here). Nice inside look at the pace and complexity of running an NFL offense on game day.

“Air traffic controller. . . . That’s a pretty good description. You’re usually pretty wired after a game for a while. I’ll get home and kind of crash and fall asleep. And then I wake back up. I usually don’t sleep really well after a game. It’s three hours of nonstop action and having to think and make quick decisions. When I come home, I really don’t want to have to make any decisions. I let my wife pick out what we’re having to eat, what time we’re going to bed and everything else. By that time, I’m decisioned-out.”

Numbers tell the tale after first six games (Marla Ridenour, Akron Beacon Journal) — Solid write-up on GM Phil Savage’s Thursday press conference.

“We have more of a team right now than we’ve had at any point since Romeo and I got here,” Savage said. “It’s always been a focus to build some togetherness, but it’s hard to do when you’re changing a lot of players. This team should stay together for the next few years. That’s why you see more camaraderie.”

Defense struggles to contain passes to tight ends (Tony Grossi, The Plain Dealer) — Coach, GM, and safety Sean Jones explain the problem ahead of the match-up with Jones’ college teammate, Randy McMichael who has guaranteed a Rams win.
