The Anti-Ocho

It’s not exactly breaking news that the new Browns’ early drafts yielded a dearth of production. The 1999 draft, despite extra picks in several rounds, produced just one player who remains in the NFL to this day. You’re more of a die-hard than I if you can name him without any digging.

I’ll make it easy on you. He’s profiled today in the New York Times as the anti-Chad Johnson.

“I’m old school,” Dearth, 31, said. “I don’t have any dances. No one ever called me Ocho Cinco. Probably no one ever will.”

As a Brown, Dearth couldn’t beat out Ryan Kuehl for long-snapping duties, but he was picked up for the last two games of the year, sporting jersey number 88.
