The 2003 schedule is now official (see right column), and the big news is that the Browns will appear twice in prime time, including a Monday night game in Cleveland for the first time since 1995. All in all, the schedule seems about right: the bye week is well-placed, and the home/away games are well distributed.

Now that the “where” and “when” are established, it’s time to settle the “who.” Who will play linebacker? Who will put the heat on quarterbacks? Who will cover the likes of Harrison, Owens, Rice, Boston, Ward, Holt, and the others? Who will start behind center? Who’s the center, anyway? Whom will we draft? Who will get cut? Whom will we sign?

Or maybe, given the way the NFL business goes these day, it’s best to adopt the view of one Browns List wag, who wrote recently, “I’m just glad I’m a fan that roots for the laundry. If I fell in love with individual players, I’d be S.O.L. every year.”
