Mark me down as agreeing with Bernie’s Insiders Webmaster Art Bietz, who says it “borders on unforgiveable” (sic) that the Browns have apparently not yet begun to renegotiate contract restructuring with Tim Couch and Courtney Brown. The Browns need more cap room if they are to sign any experienced players to fill the ever-more-gaping holes in the offensive line, secondary, and linebacking corps. The contracts of Couch and Brown, two underperforming top picks, are the best place to start. If we don’t see some action soon in this area, I’ll be inclined to believe that the Browns are basically writing off the 2003 season and hoping to grow back into the playoffs by 2004.
