The Browns played their best game since returning to the league four years ago, winning on the road against a 7-3 team. With all those struggles and blowouts we Browns fans endured, the best we could say was “it was a good learning experience.” Well, here’s what I learned from yesterday’s winning experience:
— The Browns without Jamel White are better than the Saints without Deuce McAllister.
— William Green thrives as an every-down back, and his blocking ability will help him keep that role.
— Pound-for-pound, Dennis Northcutt is the most exciting player in the league. He consistently comes up big on third down, and he can take a hit and hold onto the ball.
— When they avoid penalties (just 4 yesterday), every unit of this team is competitive, against anyone, anywhere.
— The Browns continue to be a great fourth-quarter team. Yesterday, holding a lead, they kept the ball a full 12 minutes — 80% — of the fourth quarter.
— Anthony Henry makes great plays on the ball when he doesn’t back himself out of the play by giving the receiver too much cushion.
— The coaching continues to improve as the year goes on. The team shows imagination in its play-calling and more confidence and composure each week.
