You have to admire Otto Graham, the Browns’ first and greatest quarterback. By giving interviews and appearing at this weekend’s Legends festivities, he again shows the fearless self-assurance that helped him lead the franchise to its initial glory days and eventual acceptance into the NFL. Graham, 80, knows he has Alzheimer’s disease, a degenerative dementia that is eventually fatal. “It doesn’t bother me in the slightest,” he told his hometown newspaper this week. It would have been easy for him to find an excuse not to travel and to not speak to reporters, but in doing so Graham once again provides an example of courageous leadership.
